What is EABC?

The Ethan Allen Biathlon Club (EABC) is an organization dedicated to promoting the sport of biathlon for all ages. In addition, our coaches are dedicated to the development and success of young athletes in the sport of biathlon on the local, national and international stage. With a world-class facility, that is one of the best in the country, situated right here in the Green Mountains of Vermont, we have a unique opportunity for attracting and training local athletes.

Youth/Junior Coaching- EABC Youth and Junior athletes have gone on to compete at all levels of national and international biathlon competition. Coaching is provided on a year round basis to young athletes interested in improving their shooting, skiing, endurance and competition skills. The year is broken into training blocks and sessions are typically held twice per week. A training plan and schedule are worked out between the participating athletes and the coach to meet the needs of the athletes. No previous biathlon experience necessary. Athletes must be a member of a High School or Nordic ski club to participate.

Air Rifle / 0.22 Kids (10-13 years old)- Younger skiers can participate in less formal training with air rifles and eventually .22 rifles resting on shooting blocks. Fun races are held as well as plenty of skiing.

Senior/Master Training- Master and Senior EABC members train at the range during scheduled training times. Rifles are available. Coaching is available informally from more experienced biathletes and occasionally, more formal practices with EABC and Guest coaches are available. This group comes together to support each others improvement, for friendly competition, and to share the enjoyment of this sport.

Special Events- Special events change from year to year and are an opportunity to introduce new people to the sport of biathlon, share our facilities with regional, national and international athletes and host championship caliber races. These events include...

  • Weekend Biathlon Races - Typically held in the Spring and Fall and organized to be beginner friendly as well as a racing opportunity for biathletes from further away.

  • Masters Biathlon Camp - The popularity of biathlon among masters has been growing steadily and so has the desire to provide higher level and more complete training/learning opportunities for these athletes. Plans are underway to offer one day training camps aimed at improving shooting skills, skiing technique, range race procedures, and race tactics. The camps would be staffed by top level coaches. Stay tuned to the web site for more details.

  • North American and National Championship Rollerski Biathlon Cup - Hosted by EABC each summer, these races attract the top U.S. and Canadian biathletes. Our exceptional paved rollerskiing trail network make EABC a strong candidate to host these races in the future and a wonderful opportunity for members not racing to help out and watch future and current Olympic biathletes compete.

  • USBA National Championships, Youth/Junior Trials, Senior Trials - EABC is regularly a host of the larger USBA races.
